Roberta Flack Live Debuts "Feel Like Makin' Love" in 1975

When Roberta Flack reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her single "Feel Like Makin' Love" in 1974, which marked her third #1 single, she became the first female artist since 1940 to hit that benchmark in three consecutive years. The song was one of the biggest singles of the year, also reaching the top of the Hot Soul Singles chart and the Adult Contemporary chart along with receiving multiple GRAMMY nominations for Flack. Over the years, "Feel Like Makin' Love" has been covered by Lumidee, Rick Braun and most notably, by D'Angelo in 2000.

The concert took place on August 5, 1975 at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Illinois. The show was part of the Mississippi River Festival which ran from July 1 through August 20, 1975 and featured one to two artists per night including REO Speedwagon and Jefferson Starship.

Flack's show opened with a cover of Carole King's "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?" and featured a total of seven songs on the setlist with the main set ending with a cover of the iconic song "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." The one-song encore was a performance of Lori Lieberman's "Killing Me Softly With His Song."
