The Metallica 'Jools Holland' performance was a set by the entire band and on one song Hetfield performed solo whilst standing on the stage with the band (which is marked on the setlist).
This website doesn't take how an Artist lists songs & performances on their personal websites to override the Guidelines and how we enter information here.

Many artists have posted a setlist on their website based on the printed setlist used at the show (that the tour manager sends to the web/social team to input). But at the live performance, there was a change and a song was cut or a song was added. This site goes by what was actually performed, not what an Artist posts on their website.

I understand the Hetfield solo performance may have been marketed as "Metallica" but only James Hetfield appeared and performed.That is how we enter the set on this website.

When an artist performs solo, and plays a song recorded and released by the band they are a member of, it's a cover (displays as "song" on this site). The "song" tag denotes the artist was part of the original release group/songwriter.

When Paul McCartney, who wrote "Let It Be" and recorded it with The Beatles, performs it solo, it's a The Beatles cover (displays as song) since Paul McCartney is a member of The Beatles):

When James Hetfield performs solo and plays a Metallica song it is listed as a cover (displays as "song") since Hetfield is a member of Metallica.
