2018 in Review: AJR

2018 proved to be a year full of success for the DIY pop group AJR. The three brothers toured around North America in support of their 2017 Sophomore studio album The Click. The album got a deluxe release this past September, which features bonus tracks.

From street performing, to headlining tours, AJR have come a long way. We caught up with the trio to reflect on their year on the road, plans for 2019 (new album, anyone?) and more! Check out their answers below

What was your favorite show that YOU played this year?

"Our favorite show this year was a hometown show at Terminal 5 in New York City. It's such a classic New York venue that we had been to so many times as we were growing up. Getting to play there in front of a sold out crowd, singing all the songs with us, was incredible. It almost made us want to go back and play multiple nights there on our next tour."

What was your favorite show that you SAW this year?

"We saw Weezer perform a headline set in Jacksonville Florida while we were on tour. Rivers Cuomo, the lead singer, is featured on our song "Sober Up,"  so we were hanging out with him in our dressing room after we played, before they went on. It is always so interesting to see someone you know so well take on a new personality on stage. His acoustic performance in the middle of the set, from the middle of the crowd, set the audience on fire. You could tell that Rivers was a real person and has such passion for connecting his music to his fans."

What do you have planned for 2019?

"We are planning new singles, new album and new tour for 2019. I can't say much about it, but everything will be revamped and some of the venues we are playing are the most iconic in the country. Looking forward to it!"
