Tour Update: Chris Lane

North Carolina native and country-pop singer Chris Lane has spent a lot of time in 2017 touring and promoting his debut record Girl Problems, which came out on the 5th of August. In late 2015, Lane released his first EP, Fix, which made it onto Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart after its release. Fast forward to this past summer, and Lane could be found on the road supporting country duo Florida Georgia Line on their Dig Your Roots Tour and Smooth Tour. Right now, Lane is in the midst of his own headlining tour which kicked off last month in Baltimore, Maryland. In between his busy schedule, we spoke with Lane about the different considerations that go into creating a live setlist for his shows.

When talking about the anatomy of his setlist, Lane said: “I want to go three or four songs, maybe even a handful of songs as high energy as possible, get everybody going. Then you get the opportunity to kind of break it down a little bit, whether it’s an acoustic song or a couple acoustic songs, or just maybe one of your mid-tempos to ballads, whatever you want, you can throw that kind of in there. But then for the rest of the show you want to keep it as high energy as possible, and that’s the kind of music I try to record so I would have songs that give me that feel live.”
Lane added that he takes his fans reactions into consideration when he's on stage:
“Really I base it a lot off of the crowd and you know, what they give you. And I feel like it’s a challenge every night. You want to go out there and obviously you want them to love you. Hopefully they love you already ‘cause they’re showing up to see you but yeah I base it all basically on what kind of energy they’re giving me back and if they’re not giving my everything I want, how can I get that out of them and that’s the fun part about doing a live show.”
