Spoiling You w/ Liam Gallagher's Why Me? Why Not. Tour Setlists!

It seems quite difficult to miss Liam Gallagher in the news these days. Fortunately, we’re not trying to avoid him. Despite the constant back-and-forth social media fights between brothers and former bandmates Liam and Noel Gallagher, fans still flock to every show in an effort to catch at least part of Oasis.

However, regardless of the current status of the legendary British rock band, Liam Gallagher has made a name for himself outside of a group setting, creating a successful solo career in its place.

Having already released two full-studio albums since Oasis’s most recent breakup in 2009, Gallagher is ahead of the curve in regard to his own content, not to mention the fact that his 2017 record has already been certified platinum.

Of course, sales are just a number, but it doesn’t hurt to have numerous sold-out dates well in advance of a headlining arena tour. Deemed the Why Me? Why Not. Tour, Liam Gallagher set out on the thirteen-date UK run at the start of November and is scheduled to trek across the UK through the end of the month before heading to Australia and New Zealand in December.

With high expectations in front of him, how has Liam coped with his newer solo success? Well, let’s just say if this tour is any indication of his nonstop potential, then sign us up for the fan club. Check out these tour spoilers for Liam Gallagher’s 2019 Why Me? Why Not. Tour!

Where has the tour taken him thus far?
Not including a few one-off dates as a special guest on The Who’s Moving On! Tour, Liam has only dented a few parts of England. However, by year’s end, he will have conquered a large portion of the UK as well as Australia and New Zealand. And that doesn’t take into account the 2020 European dates he has booked for the tour.

Are there any openers?
Yes! Gallagher has welcomed special guests Miles Kane and DMA’s as supporting acts for his headlining tour. After the original opening act Slowthai dropped the gig in favor of a spot on Brockhampton’s current tour, Gallagher quickly found a couple of new acts to take the position. After the announcement back in September, Kane took to Twitter to share his excitement about the news.

Is the tour promoting anything in particular?
Liam Gallagher officially released his second solo album entitled Why Me? Why Not. at the end of September and had planned the tour in succession. So while he doesn’t shy away from his Oasis hits, Gallagher is very much supporting his recent release.

What’s the setlist looked like thus far?
As previously mentioned, Liam has not hid his Oasis roots. Considering he has only released two full-studio solo albums to date, it would be hard to form a complete setlist with the limited content regardless. In general, expect about a fifty-fifty split between solo and Oasis tracks at every show and a setlist averaging between eighteen and twenty-one songs.

Does the setlist change?
Minus a few minor adjustments or additions here and there, Liam has kept the setlists relatively consistent throughout the tour thus far. However, the number of encores has changed quite a few times. In that regard, your guess is as good as mine and probably even Liam’s too.

What hits have consistently remained on the setlist?
There are a handful of songs that have yet to leave the setlist since the start of the tour. In terms of solo tracks, “Wall of Glass,” “Shockwave,” “The River” and “Greedy Soul” have all found a spot on the setlist from night-to-night. When referring to Oasis, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star,” “Champagne Supernova,” “Wonderwall,” “Columbia” and “Morning Glory” have also claimed permanent spots on the tour.

What’s the production like?
Considering the current sold-out run is an arena-based tour, Gallagher’s production has been relatively significant. Taking advantage of a massive lighting setup and oversized monitor backdrop, the frontman and his band have little work to do in regard to the performance beyond the music. Either way, Gallagher’s solo and Oasis catalogue is guaranteed to entertain regardless of production.

Have there been any surprises?
Fans will be happy to know that there has been one very special guest that has made an appearance at a few shows on this UK run. Oasis’s own Bonehead aka Paul Arthurs has stopped by a couple of dates to perform songs like “Stand By Me,” “Roll With It,” “Gas Panic!,” “Supersonic” and of course, “Wonderwall” to name a few.
