Simple Plan End 2019 Where I Belong Tour w/ Live Collaboration!

Who could forget the legendary pop-punk hits that always seemed to get stuck in our heads like “Welcome to my Life” and “I’m Just A Kid?" Well, the icons behind those songs and countless other recent punk hits, Simple Plan, found themselves back on the road over the past month on their 2019 Where I Belong Tour.

Co-headlining with fellow punk band State Champs and special guests We The Kings, Simple Plan made their way across much of the United States, hitting twenty cities in just under a month. Ultimately culminating at the Fillmore in San Francisco at the end of November, this tour didn’t disappoint. With such a fantastic bill at hand, it’s hard to imagine it would even have the ability to do so.

With five full-studio albums and countless hit singles in their repertoire, Simple Plan have a lot to go off of when constructing a show and setlist. Combining a variety of hits since their 2002 release of No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls to their most recent 2016 release of Taking One for the Team, the Montreal natives have been sure to diversify their set throughout the tour, catering to old and new fans alike.

However, despite the successful attempt in an overarching setlist, Simple Plan have seldom changed their song choices from night-to-night, making only the occasional minor adjustment on a few dates.

Making use of a simple production featuring accent lighting and a banner backdrop, along with the benefits of more intimate venues, Simple Plan created a show worth celebrating, often using audience participation to raise the level of performances.

Typically opening the show with the No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls track “I’d Do Anything,” Simple Plan would immediately boost the crowds' energy with the upbeat hit. Continuing with the nostalgic trend, the guys threw in a few more hits from the 2002 record as well as Still Not Getting Any… (2005) including “Jump,” “Welcome to My Life” and “Addicted.”

As promised, the band often weaved in some newer content too including songs off of their 2011 album Get Your Heart On! as well as their most recent album Taking One for the Team. From tracks like “Boom!” and “You Suck At Love” to “Can’t Keep My Hands Off You” and “Summer Paradise,” Simple Plan rounded out most of their sets with some recent hits before sharing the stage with State Champs and We The Kings to perform their collaboration of “Where I Belong.”

Following a premature goodbye, Simple Plan would return for their typical three-song encore, ending each night night with special renditions of “Shut Up,” “I’m Just a Kid” and “Perfect." And with one final note at the Fillmore, the band ended their last show, and ultimately their co-headlining tour, with an extended bow before their dedicated fans.
