Post Malone Reflects On Success as He Wraps Runaway Tour in LA

Last night was my turn to runaway with Post Malone as he reaches the finish line of his 2019 Runaway Tour in support of his top charting, latest album, Hollywood's Bleeding. It was the first night of two back-to-back tour finale shows, which took place at the Forum in Los Angeles.

The night was already packed in for opening act and superstar in his own right - rapper Swae Lee. Swae did wonders getting us hyped for the night as he moved and grooved to his beats on stage, at times accompanied by a professional dancer. He performed all his hits from his new solo career as well as the Rae Sremmurd bops like "No Type" and "Black Beatles." And to make the end of the tour extra special, Swae live debuted a brand new song off an upcoming album he said would be dropping in 2020!

After a short break, it was time for Posty. Once the lights went down, the screams radiating through the giant venue were near deafening, almost as much as the fireworks that went off during opening song "Hollywood's Bleeding." And YES, there was pyro INDOORS throughout the night, and yes, it was tight.

Embedded content is no longer available.

Posty did 21 songs, performing all the highs from his incredibly successful career, which skyrocketed after he put out "White Iverson" at the ripe age of 18. The now 24-year-old also squeezed in plenty of deep cuts like "Stay," which was performed acoustically and showed that when you peel away the layers of auto-tune and pop-dom, there remains a singer-songwriter who can sing and play songs with plenty of emotional conviction. And "emo" is fully self-proclaimed as Post made it clear more than once that most of his songs are sad / about heartbreak.

But later on in the set Post reminded us that he is indeed, a rockstar, as he brought back that same acoustic guitar but not to perform, it smash it into a million pieces then pour one out for the homies right into the destruction.

Still, Posty does not take anything for granted. He probably dished out 100 thank you's to show his success is not in vain. Speaking of successes, Post and Swae's song "Sunflower" is nominated for a Grammy in 2020! After Post told us that we are all sunflowers (we are), Swae came back to the stage with a hand full of them, giving some to Posty then throwing them into the crowd as they went into that addictive "ay, ay, ah."

After turning up the vibe to 100 to perform "rockstar," Post shouted how he overcame the haters when they pigeon-hold him as a "one hit wonder," and imparted words of wisdom:

"Don't let anyone tell you that you can't achieve your goals, because you're ALL rockstars!"

Then he went into an explosive performance of "Congratulations" to end the night.

There's just one more date left on this tour at The Forum, there were no special guests at last night's show - but perhaps tonight, for the grand finale, Posty might add in a little somethin' somethin'. Check back with setlist.fm tomorrow to find out!
