Doobie Brothers Reveal 50th Anniversary Tour w/ Michael McDonald

Closing out their concert in Nashville last night (Novemeber 18), the Doobie Brothers surprised fans and the world alike, bringing out former member Michael McDonald to the stage to close the night and announcing a joint tour with McDonald to celebrate 50 years of the iconic band's career.

The night was riddled with nostalgia for the different eras of Doobie excellence, with the night separated into performances of albums Toulouse Street and The Captain and Me, culminating the 23-song setlist with a rendition of "Takin' It to the Streets" with famed member McDonald joining his former band members. Take a look at the setlist from their Nashville show below!

You can expect an equally impressive setlist from the band as they take the road in June 2020 for their newly-announced 50th anniversary tour with McDonald. The Doobie Brothers are hitting spots across North America on their 30-stop tour, taking fans back to the 70s era of the band, with McDonald at the helm and hits like the Grammy-winning "What a Fool Believes." The outing will kickoff June 7th in West Palm Beach, Florida, and wrap up October 10th in Houston.

Expect to hear more from the McDonalds era, which the band have purposefully left out of their current setlist, most likely to create anticipation for this upcoming tour. Longtime member Tom Johnston acknowledged that the band themselves are equally excited about this opportunity.

“We’re truly excited about our 50th Anniversary Tour, as it’s a celebration of the band’s entire history...we’ll be performing songs from our full catalog, as well as new music.”

While the tour has yet to start, fans are already excited for the ability to see a Doobie Brothers lineup that has yet to be seen in recent years. In the meantime, take a look at the band performing on their current tour!
