See Setlist Highlights for Stone Temple Pilots 2019 U.S. Tour!

Currently on the road with fellow rock band Rival Sons, Stone Temple Pilots have shown no signs of slowing down any time soon. After the release of their seventh full studio album Stone Temple Pilots (2018) last March, the grunge rock legends played their first few shows with new frontman Jeff Gutt and haven’t stopped since.

Now over a year after the release of their first album in nearly a decade, STP is in the midst of yet another tour across the U.S. and their polished performances continue to prove that STP is as good as ever.

Having dealt with the loss of vocalists Scott Weiland in 2015 and Chester Bennington in 2017, STP has fought to keep their old music alive, while also moving forward with new content. Fortunately, Jeff Gutt has proven himself more than worthy of carrying the weight of the late legends that came before him, and this tour has only furthered that point.

With eleven combined studio, live and compilation albums in their repertoire, STP have countless songs to sort through as they form their setlist every night. Of course, true to Stone Temple Pilots fashion, the band has changed their setlist throughout the tour thus far. Luckily, the changes haven’t been too drastic, giving fans an equal opportunity at the same show, while also providing them with a unique performance from night-to-night.

Pulling mostly from their two highest-selling albums Core (1992) and Purple (1994), STP has stuck to their roots for the majority of this run. However, considering the latest release of Stone Temple Pilots (2018), the guys have also been attentive to throwing in a couple of songs off the new album as well.

As previously mentioned, the small revisions in setlists happen at the start of the show each night as the opening song has been interchangeable with either “Silvergun Superman” off of Purple or “Down” off of their 1999 album No. 4.

The show continues with a compilation of “Wicked Garden,” “Vasoline” and “Crackerman” before hitting yet another interchangeable position on the setlist. In no particular order, STP has rotated the fifth song on their setlist between Purple ’s “Meatplow” and “Lounge Fly” and No. 4 's “Pruno.” Although we can’t necessarily predict which song will be played in every city, we can assure you that you won’t be disappointed by the performance.

The remainder of the setlist has remained virtually untouched since kicking off the tour in mid September. Starting with “Big Bang Baby,” STP finishes off their main set with a wide variety of songs, pulling from their entire catalogue. From “Glide,” “Big Empty,” “Plush” and “Meadow” to “Interstate Love Song,” “Roll Me Under,” “Dead & Bloated” and “Trippin’ On a Hole In a Paper Heart,” the band ends off the set strong before the encore.

Not quite ready to wrap up the show, STP returns to stage for a two-song encore featuring two extended Core hits — “Piece of Pie” and “Sex Type Thing.” With colorful light beams moving every which way in sync with the final chorus, the grunge pioneers finish off the show just as loud as they started, and we wouldn’t expect anything less.
