Check Out Highlights from The Chainsmokers' World War Joy Tour

The Chainsmokers are arguably EDM's most recognizable faces, from collaborating with pop's biggest names to creating viral spectacles, the DJ and production duo have been a big part of ushering electronica into the mainstream through this decade. With a new album set to release, the Grammy winners are on their World War Joy Tour, traveling across North America with insane performances that have attracted EDM and pop fans alike.

In recent years, The Chainsmokers have experimented with their shows, retreating from the EDM style of laptop DJ-ing with Andrew "Drew" Taggart taking helm as the singer and with a full band in tow. However, they stay true to their EDM roots with impressive set designs and pyrotechnics that match when the beat drops. The 15-song setlist is comprised of old favorites and sneak peeks off of the new album, and guarantees to keep the crowd on their toes and with their hands in the air.

The stage setup and performances were made with one intent in mind; to captivate the audience.

The openers, Lennon Stella and 5 Seconds of Summer, each bring different elements to the shows with Stella showing off her chill indie-pop style and 5SOS bringing the screaming fangirls in with their rock, heartthrob energy. Needless to say, crowds are in for a treat with just the openers, and the performances set the tone for the Chainsmokers' spectacle-heavy and dynamic show. Alex and Drew kick things off with their newest single "Takeaway" off of their upcoming album World War Joy. Check out a clip of their performance below!

The setlist is sprinkled with the duo performing new songs as well as old favorites such as the Grammy-winning "Don't Let Me Down" and Coldplay collab "Something Just Like This." However, the main attractions at the shows are... well the attractions. The Chainsmokers spent a lot of time and dedication creating impressive spectacles to accompany their performances, CGI projections singing their most famous lyrics, such as their hit with Bebe Rexha "Call You Mine", and a massive hamster-ball structure that at different points in the night serves as a stage or a performance in and of itself.

The duo closes the night with the appropriately-titled "Closer" and so far there are no encores, but if there's one thing the Chainsmokers are known for, its for their unpredictability. At one of their earlier shows, they played a song that they had not yet released, now titled "Push My Luck." It's needless to say that the crowd ate it up! Check out the performance below!
