Bad Bunny Stops NYC Traffic for First Virtual Show of 2020

On Sunday, September 20, Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny played his first virtual concert of 2020. It was no ordinary gig. The livestream for Uforia Music and his YouTube channel drew upward 10 million viewers, was replete with special guests and this all took place atop a moving bus. The set commenced at Yankee Stadium and began with a live debut of “BENDICIONES,” a track off the album he surprise-released in May.

During the 19-song set the bus rolled through the streets of New York, seeing the live debut of 10 tracks off YHLQMDLG. Special virtual guests included album collaborators Sech, Mora and J Balvin who joined in for the second to last song, “La canción”

The show honored both Hispanic Heritage month and the third anniversary of Hurricane Maria, which devastated Puerto Rico in 2017. The set concluded at Harlem Hospital to honor frontline workers.

“It was difficult for me to do a concert without an audience. I didn't want to,” Bunny said during the two-hour event. “But I’m accepting the new reality and I hope people enjoy this. We need it.” (h/t Billboard)
