Incubus Celebrates 20 Years of "Make Yourself" - See Highlights

California native rock band Incubus is now a few dates into their 20 Years of Make Yourself and Beyond Tour and if these shows are any indication of what the rest of the tour will look like, fans are in for an incredible fall.

As the tour’s name suggests, the band is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their third and most critically acclaimed studio album Make Yourself.

"We are so looking forward to this fall tour. Make Yourself was such a pivotal moment in our band and we are beyond excited to reintroduce this album to our audience while also showcasing the many musical roads it ultimately led us down. See you soon." - Brandon Boyd (guitar & vocals)

Although the Grammy-nominated band has fifteen studio, live and compilation albums combined, Make Yourself sits on another level in the Incubus repertoire. Producing killer hits like “Privilege,” “The Warmth,” “Stellar,” “Make Yourself,” “Drive” and “Pardon Me,” it’s hard to argue against the 1999 album. The record is undeniably Incubus to its core with its hard rock foundation alongside the alternative nature of Brandon Boyd’s vocals and whimsical sounds of Chris Kilmore’s turntable.

With such a polished record to celebrate, it’s easy to understand why the band has chosen to honor the Make Yourself anniversary on their 2019 tour and they are not shying away from the celebration at all.

From the digital art displayed on the numerous multi-level monitor and overhead backdrop to the setlist itself, Incubus has been sure to remind fans exactly what this tour is all about.

Incubus Tweets About 2019 Tour

Split into two parts, Incubus’s set opens with the Make Yourself album in its entirety. Yes, as you probably suspected, the band performs the entire album from start to finish. And while they put their own twist on the live performances, expect to be taken back to 1999 for more than half of the night.

Incubus Performs "The Warmth" Live 2019

While Incubus is known for performing many Make Yourself hits live, this tour lets fans hear the deeper cuts off the album, some of which hadn’t been played in ten or fifteen years. From “Consequence” and “When it Comes” to “Clean” and “Battlestar Scralatchtica,” Incubus is reaching quite far into their music catalogue, not to mention “Out from Under” which had only been performed twenty-five times live prior to this tour!

To begin their second set, cleverly deemed the “And Beyond” portion of the show, Incubus opens with their most recent single “Into the Summer” before pulling from a few other albums including A Crow Left of the Murder... , Light Grenades and their 2017 album 8.

Considering there is no particular order to the second set in regard to albums, the band continues with “Sick Sad Little World,” “Love Hurts,” “No Fun” and “Anna Molly” before thanking the crowd and exiting stage.

However, that’s not the last you’ll see of Incubus as they return to stage for a two-song encore, essentially adding a third part to the full set. As expected, the alt-rockers end the show with two popular songs including “Dig” and their second most-played song live “Wish You Were Here.” Using the amped-up crowd to his advantage, Boyd immerses the crowd during the last performance, letting them sing the entire final chorus before taking a bow for the night. It really is the perfect ending to the full celebration.
