Farm Aid 2019: Neil Young, Willie Nelson, More - See the Setlists

Another year another Farm Aid! 37,000 people made their way to Alpine Valley Music Theatre in Easy Troy, Wisconsin over the weekend on September 21st to attend the benefit concert, which was founded by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young in 1985 to raise money for family farmers.

“If you’re liking this show tonight, never drive by a farmer’s market again without stopping,” Neil Young informed the crowd during his set.

“We’ve been losing farms for too many years straight. It’s time for us to start going the other way. It’s really important for our planet because farmers are the protectors of the soil. They are the ones that are going to bring the regenerative practices back across this country and make it so obvious we have to do this.”

Neil Young + Promise of the Real's set that day was on theme. He performed songs like "Workin' Man," "Harvest Moon," and "Homegrown." The rest of his eight-song set featured tracks like "Heart of Gold," "Throw Your Hatred Down" and "Rockin' in the Free World."

Willie Nelson was the night's closing set. Accompanying him and his band were his sons Micah and Lukas. The ten song setlist was made up of plenty of his famously made covers like "Whiskey River," "Down Yonger," "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys," among others. He did a couple of originals as well, like "Still is Still Moving to Me" and "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die."

Lukas took the reigns on leg vocals for a rendition of Larry Davis' "Texas Flood." The set closed out with Neil Young joining the stage and helping the band perform a medley of "I Saw the Light," Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and "I'll Fly Away."

Other notable performances included Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, who joined forces to perform a seven song setlist of mostly Dave Matthews Band songs. They did all the favorites like "Save Me," "Come Tomorrow" and "Ants Marching."

John Mellencamp took the stage at Farm Aid for the first time since April and won the crowd over with a setlist of hits. He did cuts like "Small Town," "Check it Out," "Authority Song" and "Jack and Diane," which he did solo on acoustic guitar.

His set wouldn't be complete without a performance of the unofficial Farm Aid anthem "Rain on the Scarecrow."
