This past weekend would have been Lollapalooza 2020 at the classic Grant Park in Chicago. But thanks to a certain pandemic, music lovers across the globe got to enjoy Lolla2020 instead - a livestream festival event which offered a combination of new and old performances from July 30th through August 2nd.
The event, which took place on YouTube for FREE, featured a line up of 150 performances, including conversations with special guests (like Michelle Obama!) and hosted by Lollapalooza co-founder and Jane's Addiction frontman, Perry Farrell.
The most anticipated performance of the festival was the reunited Porno for Pyros, another one of Farrell's band, who made their first public appearance together in 24 years on day one of the fest! Albeit, they played together in 2009 for Farrell's 50th birthday bash.
The band featured Farrell, guitarist Peter DiStefano, Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins and Minutemen bassist Mike Watt set up for a socially distanced backyard performance, where they acoustically played their hit "Pets" and "Kimberly Austin."
A couple days later, August 1st, Farrell would treat fans to another reunion, this time of Jane's Addiction, who made their first public appearance in three years.
Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Chris Chaney, and drummer Stephen Perkins banded together in a remote sound stage to perform "I Would For You" and "Stop!"
