If you haven’t figured it out already, we stan The 1975 over here at Setlist.fm. Hard.
The British quartet– fronted by the ever-enigmatic Matty Healy– are wrapping up the North American leg of their Music For Cars Tour in support of 2018's A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships and the forthcoming Notes on a Conditional Form slated for release later this year.
Though no new music has been released yet from Notes, the tour celebrated the band's entire discography with a setlist stacked with live debuts, fan-interactions and a visually spectacular stage set up.
We highlighted the first half of the North American leg last month, but SO much has happened since then. Keep reading for highlights from the rest of the run!
May 17 – Hangout Music Fest – Gulf Shores, Alabama
The Brits took the main stage at Hangout Fest, where they performed a 16-song set including songs "TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME," "Loving Someone," "Somebody Else" and "The Sound."
But the bigger story of the night had nothing to do with music. In the midst of their set, Healy delivered an impassioned speech against Alabama's abortion ban.
"The reason I’m so angry is because I don’t believe [the ban] is about the preservation of life, I believe it’s about the controlling of women," he said to the crowd, before diving into a politically-charged speech about women's rights.
"By default, by proxy, we are all in favor of freedom of expression," he continued.
"You know what’s also important? Freedom for women to do with their reproductive systems what they want!"
We love a social justice advocate. Thanks for supporting women, Matty!
May 30 – Agganis Arena – Boston, Massachusetts
The band returned to Boston after two years and put on an electrifying show at Agganis Arena, home to Boston University's highly coveted men's hockey team.
They performed a 17-song main set with a four-song encore of "Love It If We Made It," "Chocolate," "Sex" and "The Sound."
Check out these gorgeous fan videos of the encore!
June 3 – Budweiser Stage – Toronto, Ontario
Spring was in the air last night (Wednesday, June 3) as The 1975 took the outdoor stage in Toronto.
They played their standard setlist, but went out with a bang for their last North American show this time around.
Watch the band perform oldies (but goodies) "Chocolate" and "Somebody Else!"
The 1975 have a few festival appearances back in the U.K. this summer before trekking through Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand from June through September.
