It's been quite the year for the mighty Cure. The Brits have announced a new album in the works, have just wrapped up an anniversary tour celebrating 30 years since the debut of their 1989 masterpiece, Disintegration and are currently making their way around Europe just in time for festival season.
Following their induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, they've also announced their 40th anniversary with an in-cinema showing of their seminal 2018 concert in Hyde Park in central London.
"This really was the perfect way to celebrate 40 years of the band," frontman Robert Smith said in a statement.
"It was a fabulous day none of us will ever forget."
Whatever words you say, Bob, we will always love you.
There's a lot to look forward to, but we're still unpacking all that's happened so far on their tour. Here are some highlights from The Cure's 2019 trek so far!
May 24 – Sydney, Australia
The Cure celebrated Disintegration's 30th anniversary with a string of shows at Sydney's Vivid LIVE Festival. The band kicked of their five-night stand on May 24 by playing the album in its entirety, including renditions of the record's two closing tracks, "Homesick" and "Untitled," for the first time in 17 years.
The rest of the setlist consisted of live debuts of deep cuts and B-sides, such as "Fear of Ghosts," "Esten," "Babble," "Out of Mind," "Delirious Night," "No Heart" and their cover of Wendy Waldman's "Pirate Ships."
