Siouxsie Sioux Plays First Show in 10 Years in Belgium

This week, Siouxsie Sioux played her first show in ten years, and the crowd couldn’t get enough! As the post-punk songstress took the stage in Belgium on May 3rd, she delivered a setlist that spanned her entire four-decade career. This includes tracks from her two bands, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and The Creatures, plus solo hits from the early 2000s.

Now 65 years old, the new-wave-meets-gothic-rock hero performed with as much stamina and stage presence as she did a decade ago. The setlist included many Banshees, including “Spellbound,” “Face to Face,” and “Happy House,” and it makes total sense. She rose to fame as the group's frontwoman for two decades, from 1976 to 1996, and became a household name with her melodic vocals and gothic punk style!

Sioux also sang one song from her time with the Creatures, “But Not Them,” and a couple of covers, including “Dear Prudence” from The Beatles and “The Passenger” by Iggy Pop. Add in several tracks from her 2007 solo album, Mantaray, like “Here Comes That Day” and “Into a Swan,” and you have the perfect Siouxsie Sioux concert. Her comeback show was a musical journey throughout her entire epic career, and it’s just the beginning of her 2023 endeavors.

Sioux will headline the second-annual Cruel World Fest in Pasadena, CA, on May 20th, alongside Iggy Pop, Billy Idol, Adam Ant, and more. She’ll also set off on a European trek in the summer of 2023, including an appearance at the Latitude Festival with Pulp and Paolo Nutini. It’s not just the fans, and Sioux herself, that are ecstatic to see her onstage again… but all the music industry executives that have witnessed her musical impact firsthand over the years.

“What a privilege it is to welcome the iconic Siouxsie to the Latitude Festival,” says Melvin Benn, U.K. Latitude Festival director. “Siouxsie has been an enduring trailblazer, and her impact across musical culture is colossal. Uncompromisingly defiant, Siouxsie’s powerful body of work is incomparable. There has never been a live performer like her, and there probably never will be!” You can say that again!

After a decade off, these Siouxsie Sioux concerts are going to be next-level exciting for all involved. Will you be there? Check out her full setlist from the Belgium show here.
