It's another tequila sunrise, as the Eagles have officially kicked off their highly anticipated 2019 World Tour!
Members Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit are joined by country singer Vince Gill and the son of the late Glenn Frey, Deacon Frey, as they embark on a 14-date trek across Europe.
The band debuted the new lineup at the Classic West and East concerts in July 2017 and returned with more than 50 North American dates in 2018 before announcing these new shows.
Upcoming stops include Cologne, Munich, Amsterdam, Zurich and Copenhagen, with dates in London (featuring special guest Sheryl Crow), Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Glasgow and Dublin. After which, the band heads to the United States for a two-night stand at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena in late September, where they'll play their 1976 album Hotel California in full both nights.
The Eagles are backed by a live band that includes a full horn section and a full strings section for a little touch of cinematic flair in celebration of almost 50 years together.
"We are grateful for our families, our management, our crew, the people at radio and, most of all, the loyal fans who have stuck with us through the ups and downs of 46 years," Henley said in a statement. "It’s been quite a ride."
The tour kicked off May 26 at Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Belgium. The band's 21-song main set included cuts from their entire discography like "Life in the Fast Lane," "New Kid in Town," "Lyin' Eyes," "Tequila Sunrise" and "Take it to the Limit" as well as an array of covers like Steve Young’s “Seven Bridges Road” and James Gang’s “Funk #49” and “Walk Away.”
They also explored each member's solo work. Fans heard renditions of Don Henley’s "The Boys of Summer," Joe Walsh’s "In the City" and "Life’s Been Good" and Vince Gill’s "Don’t Let Love Slip Away" before not one… not two… but three encores.
The Eagles closed out the night with the ever-iconic "Hotel California," "Rocky Mountain Way," "Desperado" and "Best of my Love."
