Setlist Guide: Prep for Joe Russo's Almost Dead's "The Eleven"

Grateful Dead cover band extraordinaire, Joe Russo's Almost Dead, have been gifting deadheads with loads of concert content to keep themselves occupied during quarantine times.

They already launched "RAD Night in America" - a weekly free livestream that features a full show, hand-picked from their archives, to broadcast every Tuesday via nugs.tv.

But JRAD are taking it even further with the launch of "The Eleven," a Pay Per View event of their epic 6-night run at the Brooklyn Bowl back in October 2017. The run will be broadcasted over two weekends: April 23nd-25th, and April 30th-May 2nd. The cost for one night is $11.11, while all six nights is $55.55. A portion of all the proceeds will benefit the Brooklyn Bowl Staff Relief fund. Check out more details about the event below:

If you're having trouble deciding which night you want to watch, if you want to watch them all, OR just simply, curious, then you're in luck because we've compiled a Setlist Viewing Guide to help you.

The 6-night run launched on October 5th, 2017 and wrapped up on October 14th. The kickoff show was monumental for the band because they weaved in three live debuts: "Lazy River Road" by Grateful Dead, "Yazoo Street Scandal" by Bob Dylan and The Band, and "Runnin' Down a Dream" by Tom Petty.

The second night, October 6th, had the longest setlist out of all the whole run, clocking in at 17-songs.

The third night, October 7th, is another for the books, with very special guest Stuart Bogie playing the Tenor Sax throughout the night. It was an extremely jammy night with a lot of mesmerizing free jazz happening. Bogie alternated playing the sax, flute and clarinet during the second set for "Uncle John's Band" and "Terrapin Station Suite."

Night 4, October 12th, carried the most Dead jams, with the exception of "Good Morning, School Girl" by Sonny Boy Williamson to open the second set, a Radiohead cover of "The Bends," and an encore of "Tell Me, Momma" by Bob Dylan.

The award for the most exciting night of the run, however, probably goes to October 13th, the second to last night. Not only did they live debut TWO Dead songs, "Cosmic Charlie" and "China Doll," but at the end of the first set, special guest John Mayer appeared to perform "Althea" with the band. He played the two opening songs of the second set, "Here Comes Sunshine" and then "Minglewood Blues." Then Mayer popped back out during the two-song encore to do Dr. John's "Such a Night" followed by the night's finale, "Franklin's Tower."

Joe Russo's Almost Dead

The 6th and final night carries 14 songs with some very choice Dead deep cuts in the first set like: "Let it Grow," "Row Jimmy," and "Lost Sailor." But the highlight of the night came in the second set, when the band exploded into an improved "Unbroken Chain" jam.

Quite an epic run, no? A 6-night ticket seems the way to go, but we'll leave that up to you. 😉
