Joel and Benji Madden Play Good Charlotte Songs on Live Stream

Good Charlotte joined the mass of artists who are engaging fans through live streams. The band went live on Veeps yesterday (April 2) at 1 PM PST / 4 PM EST, where lead vocalist Joel Madden and guitarist Benji Madden sang some fan favorites.

The special live and unplugged set raised funds for charitable efforts related to the COVID-19 outbreak. Fans had to pay $15 but were ensured that the proceeds would go to charity. Good Charlotte has been doing periodic Instagram Live performances but decided to launch their own live stream in order to reach fans on a broader platform. The two shared some banter and stories with fans, who were live-tweeting and chatting with the members. There was a little bit of back story to most of the songs, which added a touch of intimacy to the in-home entertainment. Fans reveled in their favorite classics from their screens at home, which allowed for more one-on-one communication with the duo, too.

They played acoustic versions of classic Good Charlotte tunes, including “Wondering.” Benji and Joel opened up about their unknown fate with their career and how their aspirations mainly included making a song that would leave a positive impact on someone, which led to the making of “Hold On.” They performed the timely song with a grace that still has a lasting effect. Another track, “The Motivation Proclamation,” made the setlist, feeding into everyone's nostalgia cravings.

Benji showed off a bunch of his memorabilia from the early days to fans. It was a very atmospheric hangout that felt more intimate and interpersonal than an actual show. The duo performed other classics from their first two albums, Good Charlotte and The Young and the Hopeless.

Benji and Joel plan on doing additional live streams in the near future. To catch one of them, follow them on Twitter or check out their website.
