Concert of Day: Tedeschi Trucks Band 20-Song Set at LA's Orpheum

Live stream shows have recently become a popular avenue for engaging fans, readily increasing viewership on platforms such as Instagram Live. However, bands have resorted to another unique approach to providing entertainment. More and more artists are releasing live footage from their past shows. Musicians release these special live videos in hopes of making more accessible content in a time where it is needed the most.

With that in mind, we're bringing you another Concert of the Day, which will hopefully spice up your playlist this weekend! We’re taking it back to Tedeschi Trucks Band’s sets at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, California, on May 16-17.

The band launched the two downloads as part of their exclusive Swamp Family TV series, which shares their archival work. TTB noted that they plan on giving us as much content as we could handle, which seems exactly right amid this lull in the storm. Fans can read about and purchase the volumes on the band’s website. The broadcasts will be put up every Thursday.

The concerts were in support of the band’s 2019 Signs Tour, which celebrated the release of the band’s fourth studio album Signs.

The blues-rock group opened the first set of the first night with “Do I Look Worried,” followed by a hefty number of covers. Among these include Willie Nelson’s “Somebody Pick Up My Pieces,” Bob Dylan’s “Down in the Flood,” Four Tops’ “Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever” and “The Sky Is Crying” by Elmore James, alongside many other gems.

While the covers dominated the 18-song setlist, there were also some staple hits from records like Made Up Mind and Signs. They included a few deep cuts, including “I’m Gonna Be There,” “Sign, High Times” and “High & Mighty.” TTB closed out the show with a special encore performance of the classic “Made Up Mind.”

The official live stream of the show airs tonight at 5 PM (PST) / 8 PM (EST). Watch it here!

The second night of the show run opened up with the elegant “Laugh About It.” The setlist was a little bit longer this time, jam-packed with 20 songs. Jazz pianist Carey Frank joined in on some of the new covers the band introduced to the audience. They performed covers of “Leaving Trunk” by Sleepy John Estes, “Volunteered Slavery” by Rahsaan Roland Kirk, “Angel From Montgomery” by John Prine and “Sugaree” by Jerry Garcia, among others — check out the full setlist below!

The band played a set of different songs this time, with hits from Let Me Get By making appearances. They performed tracks such as “Don’t Know What It Means,” “I Want More” and “Part of Me” and “Sweet and Low” from Made Up Mind. The main set wrapped up with a cover of Santana’s “Soul Sacrifice” before jumping into an encore performance of Matthew Moore’s “Space Captain.”
