Sometimes, they say, you gotta take the good with the band.
Here’s the good: Chris Stapleton kicked off the All-American Road Show 2020 last night in Corpus Christi Texas. The tour boasts an impressive list of rotating guests each night, and the first show featured support from Jamey Johnson and Yola.
Stapleton’s set heavily featured hit singles like “Traveller” and “Broken Halos,” as well as fan favorites like “The Devil Named Music.” He also included the song “Starting Over” which he’s been playing since last year live. No word on whether it’ll appear on his next album, which he discussed in February, giving fans some insight into what he’s got planned for the future.
Chris also peppered the setlist with covers, including “Millionaire” by Kevin Welch and “Midnight Train to Memphis” by The SteelDrivers. And of course he included his career-launching version of David Allan Coe’s “Tennessee Whiskey” and a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd “Freebird” which has become a Stapleton staple.
Take a look at the full setlist from the opening night.
But now the bad.
Less than 24 hours after the kick off show, Chris took to Twitter to announce that the rest of the planned shows for March were going to be rescheduled. In order to help limit the spread of the Coronavirus and protect anyone vulnerable to the disease, four shows will be moved. As of right now the plan is to pick the tour back up again in April with a date in Toledo, OH.
