Allman Brothers Band Celebrate 50 Years: See the 24 Song Setlist

The surviving members of the last Allman Brothers Band lineup performed a tribute show to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary last night at Madison Square Garden.

This decision came six years after the band decided to stop touring, following a series of farewell shows at the Beacon Theatre.

"It’s a way of honoring 50 years of the band and honoring Duane, Gregg, Berry and Butch and the music they created," said guitarist Warren Haynes.

Billed as "The Brothers," the band – comprised of guitarists Haynes and Derek Trucks, bassist Oteil Burbridge, drummer Jaimoe Johanson and percussionist Marc Quinones – played a 24-song set consisting of career-spanning Allman hits and covers. They were also joined by drummer Duane Trucks, organist Reese Wyansas and legendary pianist and longtime Allman member Chuck Leavell

The first set included classics "Revival," "Don't Keep Me Wonderin'" and "Dreams," as well as covers of The Spencer Davis Group's "Don't Want You No More," Blind Willie McTell's "Statesboro Blues" and Muddy Waters' "Trouble No More."

Leavell joined in toward the end of the first set, accompanying the band during songs "Come and Go Blues," "Soulshine," "Stand Back" and "Jessica." Leavell was a member of the Allman Brothers Band during their commercial zenith in the '70s and is known for changing the band's sound and direction, notably from his work on "Jessica," which was featured on their 1973 album Brothers and Sisters.

Leavell stayed on for the first four songs in the second set – as they rocked out to "Mountain Jam," "Blue Sky," "Desdemona" and "Ain't Wastin' Time No More." The band rounded out the main set with "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed," "No One to Run With" and a cover of Elmore James' "One Way Out."

Leavell joined in again for The Brothers' two-song encore of "Midnight Rider" and "Whipping Post."
