Metallica Wraps Another Leg of WorldWired Tour

Metallica are unstoppable. They've been restlessly touring behind their last album, HardWired... to Self-Destruct since October 2016! By the end of the tour, the band will have completed a total of 14 legs! They just wrapped their second massive leg that took them around North America with an epic show last night (March 13) in Grand Rapids, Michigan at Van Andel Arena.

The tour has been so coveted that just a couple days ago at their March 11th show in Indianapolis' Bankers Life Fieldhouse, they set an all new attendance record! Fans made history at the 20-year-old venue with 18,274 in attendance.

The last week of their North American tour carried their typical 18-song setlist that was equipped with an extended middle drum solo with all members of the band during "Now That We're Dead," Kirk Hammet and Rob Trujillo solos followed by a segment of covers by a local band from each city they play in, and an encore that changes up each night!

For their Grand Rapids show, they encored with "Blackened," "Nothing Else Matters," and "Enter Sandman." Check out their setlist from the night below!

The cover they whipped out for Grand Rapids last night was "We're An American Band" by Flint, Michigan band Grand Funk Railroad.

Their top performed songs on this leg of the tour have been the classics "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "Master of Puppets." They also managed to squeeze in some deeper cuts from the new album like "Here Comes Revenge," "Dream No More," and "Confusion."

Other deep cuts they brought to the setlist at select cities included: "Fade to Black," "The Four Horsemen," "Motorbreath," and "Whiplash," among others.

Metallica have a couple more legs of the tour to go, including an Australian leg in October. The Trujillo promised today that a new album will be coming

"a lot sooner than the previous two did... this time around I think we'll be able to jump on it a lot quicker and jump in the studio and start working."

He adds: "We've all vowed to get this one going sooner than later. Now, how soon? I don't know. We've been touring non-stop. It's been over two years now. At some point, sure, we'll need to take a little bit of a break. It's sort of the right thing for us to do because we've been going so hard."
