Bob Weir & Wolf Bros Kickoff 2019 Tour with Grateful Dead Cuts

Bob Weir & Wolf Bros are back for a 2019 winter tour! The Grateful Dead alum and Dead & Company member kicked off the tour last night, February 28th, in Ithaca, New York at the State Theatre. The classic double-set lasted around two hours and carried a total of 18 songs.

Accompanying Weir on stage is Wolf Bros, which is made up of bassist Don Was and drummer Jay Lane. Deadheads were on their feet from the first few chords of opening song "The Music Never Stopped." They segued into Rob Wasserman's "Easy Answers" before returning back to "The Music Never Stopped," jamming seamlessly in and out of the songs before falling into the traditional "Peggy-O."

The first set saw a couple of classics from Weir's solo catalog, including deep cut "Bombs Away" followed by 1972's "Black-throated Wind." They ended the set epically with "Weather Report Suite" and "Let it Grow."

The intermission allowed Deadheads to marinate in the bliss of the first set and ready for the jam-heavy second set. Once the band came back on, they went right into a slow-paced and extended version of beloved Dead hit "Scarlet Begonias" and rolled into one Dead cut to another from there. They also performed Weir's coveted "Cassidy" and a cover of Bob Dylan's "A Hard Rains A-Gonna Fall."

The ended the main set on the signature Crickets song "Not Fade Away" with teases of "Bird Song" skillfully woven in. Bobby & Wolf Bros returned to the stage for a roaring encore and put their heart and soul into a passionate rendition of Dylan's "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue."
