Green Day Members New Band 'The Coverups' Play More Shows

The spirit of punk rock is alive and well within the legends of Green Day, and we have proof. When they aren't busy playing massive arenas around the world, the Bay Area punk rock pioneers fly under the radar by playing tiny venues in their home state under different alias', and it looks and sounds like a whole lot of fun. This time around, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirt formed a cover band with their tech/manager Bill Schneider, audio engineer Chris Dugan and guitarist Jason White, called The Coverups.

The rockers are self-proclaimed as 'a cover band that takes no requests'. The group originally played their first show together on January 15th at Albany, California's Ivy Room. To view The Cover ups first ever setlist, visit our original recap here.

On March 8th, The Coverups took to the stage again at local San Francisco punk rock venue Thee Parkside. Similarly to their first show, the band chose to play covers of artists like The Replacements, The Nerves, Ramones, The Who, The Heartbreakers, INXS, Misfits, Rick Springfield, The Undertones, The Crickets, The Plimsouls, The Damned, The Psychedelic Furs, Generation X, Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Wreckless Eric, Cheap Trick and Nick Lowe. The night's setlist included a whopping 25 tracks.
