Green Day Members Form New Band 'The Coverups'

Green Day played a 200 capacity room in their home state, and we all missed it. Well, kind of. Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirt formed a new band with their tech/manager Bill Schneider, audio engineer Chris Dugan and guitarist Jason White, called The Coverups. On January 15 and 29, the cover band played their debut shows this month at Albany, California's Ivy Room.

The band played over a dozen covers popular tracks from mostly punk rock pioneers like The Replacements "Color Me Impressed," The Nerves "Walking Out On Love," The Heartbreakers "Chinese Rocks," Ramones "I Wanna Be Sedated," Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers "American Girl," Generation X "Dancing With Myself," The Plimsouls "Million Miles Away", The Damned "Neat Neat Neat," and more.

Will the Coverups play more dates? Will the band ever "cover" Green Day? Details on The Coverups remain mostly unknown for now, but in the meantime, keep your eye out on their Instagram for (hopefully) more intimate show announcements.
