Sturgill Simpson Opens A Good Look'n Tour in Copenhagen, Denmark!

Hot off his latest album release and a subsequent charity tour, Americana star Sturgill Simpson has hit the road for the first of many tour dates to come in the new year.

Deemed A Good Look’n Tour, this current run seeks to grow on his fall trek as it continues to support the release of Sound and Fury (2019). In doing so, Simpson has created a unique live dynamic for this tour, splitting the set into different acts to accommodate much of his healthy repertoire.

Known for his substantial Americana influence, Simpson is an acclaimed artist amongst his fans and peers. Already having been nominated for multiple, and won a Grammy Award, the Kentucky native has made a significant impact in the deep rooted rock and country worlds.

With such praise backing him up, you can imagine his popularity on the road. Fortunately, with eight European shows and countless future U.S. dates booked through the end of May, fans across the globe have plenty of chances to catch his distinct act live.

On a mission to prove he’s well worth the acclaim, Simpson kicked off his A Good Look’n Tour in Copenhagen, Denmark with a twenty-one song set that cemented his artistry as a whole.

Split into two parts, Simpson opened the show with his newest album Sound and Fury. Taking full advantage of the latest release, the music icon performed the record in its entirety, from the opening hits “Ronin,” “Remember to Breathe” and “Sing Along” all the way through “Mercury in Retrograde” and “Fastest Horse in Town.” Talk about a heavy promotion.

Of course, despite the impressive nature of his latest content, it wouldn’t be a Sturgill Simpson show without an expansion of the rest of his catalogue or what he referred to as “the old sh**.”

Act two consisted of hits from that very statement as Simpson performed the majority of his top-played songs live like “The Promise,” “Brace for Impact,” “It Ain’t All Flowers,” “Some Days,” “Turtles All the Way Down” and “Call to Arms.”

And while there was no official encore in sight, the second act almost served as an encore considering the popularity in songs. Let’s just put it this way— had it been an eleven-song encore, every audience member would have still stayed for its entirety based on the classic song choice alone.

If this opening is any indication of what is to come, you won't want to miss your chance to catch this tour while you can. See a full list of Sturgill Simpson's remaining 2020 dates below and check out Simpson's official website for ticketing information!
